Update after 5 years

We have been using this edging for new installs on open graded base almost exclusively for 5 years now. We back our installations with a lifetime warranty, and have had zero callbacks or failures using this edging. The upgrades to this edging a couple years ago are phenomenal. We love the new shorter length, it's much easier to handle. The fact that it's a little more than 90 degrees really helps keep the edging tight to the pavers. And the flip up tabs make connecting the pieces together lightening fast. The open wedge style stakes with the holes in them hold the edging in the ground insanely strong - I dare you to try to pull one out! Compared to concrete edging, this is lighter (one man can carry 300 LF at a time with ease), faster to install (no mixing), and requires no cure time, so you can compact the pavers immediately, or anytime later in the future without worrying about cracking the concrete. It just doesn't get any better!

Hybrid Edging

This is our default edge restraint. For us, the performance and efficiency we gain using this product with an open-graded base easily outweigh the cost compared to traditional edge restraints on dense-grade. The ability to install edge restraint at any time, instead of having to coordinate with compaction and joint fill, provide a distinct advantage over troweled edging. Highly recommend to anyone doing permeable or open-graded projects.

No more tapered mortar beams

I recently used the Quick-E- Hybrid Edging for the first time and can say that I will never go back to a tapered mortar beam again! The edging is easy to cut if needed and went in fast and securely. I used to pride myself on my mortar beams but found that even after a year or two, they failed to hold the edges of our patios in place especially in times of drought when soil cracks and pulls apart. Couple that with freeze-thaw cycles and mortar just has no holding power. I opted to use my own hammer drill with a shop-welded tool I made to hammer in the stakes but would suggest buying the one offered by Pavetool as the continuous pounding rendered my homemade version useless in a short time. ( I'm a paver installer not a welder) Stakes hold firmly in open graded bases and will only get stronger over time as grass or plants grow in along them and the stakes take on a bit of rust. Hoping to find a dealer in our area to save on shipping but even paying for that, I am time & money ahead compared to buying, mixing, and setting mortar beams. This edging does not act as a thermal sink either like poly edging can do so I don't foresee any of that usual warping in extreme summer months or in winter as things get below freezing. Great product and well worth it!

Quick-E-Hybrid

We recently contracted to landscape a new home. I noticed that the plastic edging on the new permeable driveway installed by the builders guy was loose and allowing the pavers to move along the edges (open grade base). This was the perfect opportunity to use the Quick-E-Hybrid edging. The edging went in smoothly, a little more difficult than the plastic edging and nails that the 'other guy' used, but our guys did it without using the power tool, though i would use it next time. The edging will be on all of our permeable jobs from here on out.
